In the 60's and 70's of the last century, long before Barbara and Bono, Michael Moore and Madonna, John Lennon was protesting the U.S. Government and its unpopular war. The U.S. vs John Lennon is a documentary that presents through riveting imagery and sound, a glimpse into Lennon's simple message; A message that cut through rhetoric and doubletalk with a simple phrase - "Give Peace a Chance." More than that, the film presents the behind the scenes manipulation of his popularity by more radical anti-war protesters like Abbie Hoffman and Jerry Rubin. Because of those associations, even the FBI became interested in his message and his subversive statements. Of particular interest is Yoko Ono's participation in the film. She provides commentary for rare archival material that will be fresh and illuminating for Lennon fans. This film is rated PG-13. |
