Mike slams Battle Pope as blasphemous and tasteless pulp, best used as land fill. He gives a reserved thumbs-up to Dark Matter - a poorly illustrated comic with an intricate and wholly believable plot. Mike really likes Steve Kirkland's writing, he just wishes he could draw. ![]() Saving
GraceWednesday, July 19 at the Continental Theater, we will have a very special screening of Saving Grace. A British comedy co-written and starring Craig Ferguson (Drew's British boss on The Drew Carey Show). Also starring in the movie is twice Oscar nominated actress, Brenda Blethem. The movie has been compared to Waking Ned Divine - not a bad complement. Craig Ferguson will be at the Wednesday night screening and is anxious to answer your questions and get your comments after you see the film. Call 303.757.5850 for tickets. We have additional screenings of this movie planned on the 26th at the Mayan Theater, the 27th at The Colorado Center and on August 3rd at the Pavilions. If you would like free tickets to any of the screenings, just give us a call at Starland. |
Michael Vance takes a look at two new comics and gives them the thumbs-up. Mike finds Psychonaut an off-center collection of introspective thoughts. He likees Saint Angel because it's a like Star Wars written by J.R.R. Tolkien, or a Wagnerian opera in which the fat lady doesn't sing. Click here for the complete reviews... |

Suspended
AnimationNew Suspended Animation contributor, Mark Allen turns in an excellent review of Aztek. The series, which started as a solo issue, evolved into a JLA character and was ultimately axed. Mark suggests you peruse your local comic store's back issues for this real find. |

New
Star Wars FacesFilming is now underway on Star Wars Episode II. The official site has been releasing some news about the cast for the movie. Pictured to the left are a couple of the new faces appearing in the movie. Hayden Christensen (above left) will be playing Anakin Skywalker in Episode II. The lovely face, next to his, is that of Leeanna Walsman - she plays an extremely physical bounty hunter. At the site, there are additional casting announcements that shed some light on the movie's storyline. The ridiculous rumor of the week is that Jar Jar will be revamped with an Ozzy accent in the new episode. I would personally ask that the G-man commission a scene with Jar Jar roasting on the barby... One can only hope. |
