My
God It's Full Of Stars!
As you can see, we've continued our tradition of ripping-off recognizable logos. The inspiration for this classic design hails from the 1968 movie and seemed to be a natural choice for this year's show. You can be sure the entire odyssey theme will be prevalent in many of the special activities we are planning for Starfest. We'll be getting ready to print the
convention t-shirts soon. You can order one now to slap on your back
before the convention in April. There are two big advantages
to ordering your t-shirt early: First you don't have to worry about
us running out of your size and second you'll save money (they cost
more at the convention). We'll be printing the shirts around the
first of March and if you pre-order one you'll be able to pick it up
at the convention or get it in advance. Order yours today! |
Starfest
2001 Art Show
Over the weekend I had a nice talk with Carl Chopp, the Starfest Art Show Director. He's very excited about the art show at the coming convention. He asked me to encourage all you budding artists to send him an email if you're interested in entering your work in the April convention. Past entrants have included James Cukr, who's work is pictured here. The Art Show, Model show, and Demonstrations will all be held in the hotel section of the Events center. No pre-registration for the Art show is necessary, your art work can be entered at any time during the convention. Registration begins Friday night at 6pm. The minimum entry fee is $5.00 for a 4ft x 2ft display panel. Additional panels are $2.00 each. Table space for sculpture and 3-D artwork is available with a $5.00 minimum entry fee. You must have a membership to the convention to enter art in the Art Show. The convention receives 10% of all sales. For more additional information not contained here, please contact Carl Chopp directly. |

From the master who created Stinz, comes this comic series about two men that find themselves transformed into human-horses. The series is a device to deliver a essay on slavery inspired by Albrect Durer's woodcuts and Sebastian Brant's 1494 work, Ship of Fools.

The film traces the misadventures of buddies J.D. (Jack Black) and Wayne (Steve Zahn), who begin to suspect that their best friend, Darren Silverman (Jason Biggs), is going to allow himself to be badgered into marrying Judith (Amanda Peet), a woman he doesn't love. They decide to reunite him with his long lost love from their school days (Amanda Detmer)-even if they have to kidnap Judith to do it. The movie is rated PG-13. She made her film debut as the Warrior Woman in George Miller's Mad Max 2: Road Warrior opposite Mel Gibson. Her other film roles include The Living Daylights, Castaway, Mussolini, Return of Captain Invincible, Norman Loves Rose, and most recently Signal One. Her television movie roles include the genre film Timeslip for HBO. It is fortuitous that her schedule has allowed her to come to Denver. We look forward to finding out what it's like playing a 812 year old 10th-level Pa'u (a priest) that was imprisoned for murder, is a plant-evolved being, and is responsible for the health and well-being of her fellow passengers aboard a living ship on Farscape. |

Aside from Kevin's job as Captain of the Andromeda, he also serves as the chairman for A World Fit For Kids!. It is a non-profit organization that provides gang, drug and drop out prevention programming to kids at risk. In his role as spokesperson, Sorbo raises awareness of the importance of mentoring and acting as a positive role model to the youth of our country. We will have a table in the Activities room, at the convention, where you'll be able to learn about the organization's programs and how you can help. |

I particularly like the production style of Stone Trek. It features a laugh track and goofy cartoon sound effects. Check it out yourself at http://www.stonetrek.com. The second episode is at http://www.angelfire.com/fl/sapringer/THEDEADLYEARS2.html and is mysteriously not linked to the main site.
