Lilo &
Stitch Video ContestPlay to win a copy of the movie! In LILO & STITCH, an independent-minded little Hawaiian girl named Lilo (Daveigh Chase, TV’s "Fillmore!") plays Elvis Presley records and causes mischief for her older sister and guardian, Nani (Tia Carrere, "Wayne’s World," TV’s "Relic Hunter"). When the no-nonsense social worker Cobra Bubbles (Ving Rhames, "Mission Impossible") threatens to separate Lilo and Nani, the sisters try to get their act together. Their lives are turned upside down, however, when Stitch arrives in Hawaii. Actually a mischief-making creature who is officially known as "Experiment 626," Stitch has escaped from his creator, the mad alien scientist Jumba (David Ogden Stiers, Disney’s "Beauty And The Beast") and is on the run. When Lilo adopts Stitch in an animal shelter as the family dog, Stitch realizes he may have found the perfect place to hide out. Prone to somewhat anti-social tendencies, Stitch makes a hilarious mess of Lilo and Nani’s home life, wreaking havoc and hanging ten while he evades the alien bounty hunters who are bent on recapturing him. Soon, however, Stitch learns that the Hawaiian concept of ‘ohana (a family tradition where "no one is left behind") even applies to runaway aliens. Click here to play our video contest and you could win a copy of the movie. Lilo & Stitch will be available on DVD and VHS on December 3rd. |

Tuesday, November 26, 2002 at 6:30pm at The Colorado Center Theater - On the IMAX screen! Based on one of the greatest adventure stories ever told – Robert Louis Stevenson’s Treasure Island – Walt Disney Pictures’ thrilling new animated space adventure, "Treasure Planet," redefines animation state-of-the-art: the newest CG technology combined with the best of hand-drawn animation, taking moviegoers on a breathtaking journey across the universe. At the center of the story is fifteen-year-old Jim Hawkins, who joins the crew of an intergalactic expedition as cabin boy aboard a glittering space galleon. Befriended by the ship’s charismatic cyborg (part man, part machine) cook John Silver, Jim blossoms under his guidance, and shows the makings of a fine spacer as he and the alien crew battle supernovas, black holes and ferocious space storms. But even greater dangers lie ahead when Jim discovers that his trusted friend Silver is actually a scheming pirate with mutiny in mind. Confronted with a betrayal that cuts deep to his soul, Jim is transformed from boy to man as he finds the strength to face down the mutineers and discovers a "treasure" greater than he had ever imagined. Directed by John Musker & Ron Clements, the acclaimed writing/directing team responsible for "The Little Mermaid," "Aladdin" and "Hercules," this exciting new adaptation takes animation to the furthest reaches of the imagination. |

Hans
Richter Presentation On SaturdayThe International Experimental Cinema Exposition (TIE) and the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center are presenting Hans Richter and the Early Avant-Garde on Saturday, November 16th at 6:00 p.m. The public is invited to attend an evening of experimental films from the 1920's featuring the Dada and constructivist cinema of Hans Richter and other pioneering avant-gardists of the period. Very rare, original 16mm prints that belonged to Richter himself will be presented in the historic Fine Arts Center theater via the state's most stunning 16mm motion picture projection. Hans Richter was considered one of the early Dadaists, a form of art, which was marked by nonsense and travesty, and destroyed current aesthetic art standards. He was a member of the Dada movement of 1916-1919. For additional information and tickets, call 719.634.5583. |
Jonathan Harris At RestStarfest 2-time guest dies at 87 Jonathan Harris, who portrayed Dr. Zachary Smith in Lost in Space, died on Nov. 3 from a blood clot in his heart. Jonathan visited Denver twice as a Starfest guest and reveled in his role as a larger-than-life actor. He was born in New York, but was often mistaken as a British actor, due to his eloquence and diction. Since his years on Lost in Space, Harris concentrated on primarily voice work and had parts in the animated movies A Bug's Life and Toy Story 2. Last Minute ScreeningJack Nicholson in About Schmidt tonight Warren Schmidt (Jack Nicholson) has arrived at several of life's crossroads all at the same time. He is retiring from a lifetime of service to an insurance company; his only daughter, Jeannie (Hope Davis), is about to get married; and his wife Helen (June Squibb) dies suddenly after 42 years of marriage. Desperate to find something meaningful in his thoroughly unimpressive life, Warren sets out on journey of self-discovery, exploring his roots across Nebraska in the 35-foot motor home. His ultimate destination is Denver, where he hopes to bridge the gulf between himself and his estranged daughter. Unfortunately, he hates the groom-to-be Randall (Dermot Mulroney), a profoundly mediocre, underachieving waterbed salesman. To make matters worse, Warren is appalled by his free-spirited and boorish soon-to-be in-laws (Kathy Bates and Howard Hesseman) and is swiftly convinced that his new purpose in life is to stop the marriage. During this darkly comic and painful odyssey, Warren details his adventures and shares his observations with an unexpected new friend and confessor-Ndugu Umbo, a six-year-old Tanzanian orphan whom he sponsors for $22 a month through an organization that advertises on TV. From these long letters filled with a lifetime of things unsaid, Warren begins - perhaps for the first time - to glimpse himself and the life he has lived. This movie is rated R (some language and brief nudity). You must be at least 17 years of age to attend this screening. Wow! All 60 seats were filled by phone response in 19 minutes. Thanks for paying attention! The screening will be tonight, Wednesday, November 6th at 7:00 PM at the Starz Film Center. We suggest you arrive at the theater 45 minutes prior to show time. |
