Patrick Kilpatrick
Another great actor added to the Starfest lineup!
This 6'3" actor is really good at being bad. So good, he been asked to play opposite most of Hollywood's heavy hitting heroes: Tom Cruise, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Steven Seagal, Bruce Willis, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Tom Selleck, and Chuck Norris. One of the reasons Patrick is so-often paired with the big action stars is that he is more than capable of getting physical. He excelled at high school sports, that is until a near-fatal car accident steered him into writing. After college, he wrote for Playboy, Sports Illustrated, Life, People, Interview and Time.

Itching for a change of pace, Patrick started taking classes at Julliard and broke into the New York theater scene. His first genre film was Remo Williams - he was the guy with the diamond stud in his tooth! That same year he appeared in The Toxic Avenger.

Kilpatrick says that he's most often recognized for his role as The Sandman in Death Warrant, opposite Jean-Claude Van Damme. As Van Damme's torturer he got deliver two great lines in that movie: "Welcome to Hell" and "Time to bleed."

His genre movie credits include: Minority Report, The Replacement Killers, Eraser, Beastmaster III: The Eye of Braxus, Scanner Cop II, The Stand, Remo Williams and The Toxic Avenger - on TV - Roswell, Dark Angel, The X-Files, Angel, Star Trek: Voyager, Charmed, Star Trek: DS9, Timecop, Sleepwalkers, Nowhere Man, The Lazarus Man, Babylon 5, Legend, Lois & Clark, Time Trax, Raven and Tales From the Darkside.

Suspended Animation
Mark Allen reviews: Worms of the Earth and Mortal Coils
Worms of the EarthWorms of the Earth is recommended for those who enjoy sword and sorcery tales, Conan, or any work of Robert E. Howard.  Due to some adult situations, and the general dark nature of the story, it is not suggested for younger readers.

Mortal CoilsIn Mortal Coils, Lewis' characterization is superb, as characters are well-revealed, considering stories run two per issue.

He also does an excellent job of pacing for this format.  There is no time for much buildup, or back-story, so it's cleverly worked in as you go.

Before the reader knows it, they have enjoyed a great story, in which more has taken place than does in some entire comic books.

Suspended Animation
Mark Allen reviews: Banner and Solar, the Man of the Atom
BannerBanner review excerpt: Writer Brian Azzarello reverts the Hulk to his essence.  Too many stories in decades past had made the Hulk into a big, green, snarling... well, teddy bear.  Azzarello shows us a creature of great rage and destruction which leaves chaos and death in it's wake. Then, he presents the picture of a horrified Bruce Banner, who gets to "wake up" and see the nightmare his other self has made others live through.  Powerful stuff.

SolarSolar review excerpt: Writer Jim Shooter crafted a wonderful tale, with a tip of the hat to the original creators of the character, but adding a fresh "coat" of characterization.  Possessed of such awesome power, Seleski wants to help people, while the government wants him and his power contained.  Yet, underneath it all, there is something scary about Phil Seleski; like a powder keg, waiting to explode.

Richard Biggs
The good Doctor will be presenting a special seminar at Starfest
For five seasons, Richard portrayed Dr Stephen Franklin on Babylon 5, but that wasn't the first-time he's portrayed a doctor, nor was it to be his last. Prior to Babylon 5, he spent five seasons as Dr. Marcus Hunter on NBC's Days of Our Lives. Since B5, he's played doctor more than once on shows like Forever Love and ER. It might have been some sort of prescience that gave him the childhood aspiration of becoming a physician.

Because of the special break-out rooms available at Starfest 2003, we asked Richard to conduct a special Introduction to Acting seminar at Starfest. Anyone with an interest in acting is encouraged to sign-up for the class. The course will cover Improvisation, Definition of Character, Objectives & Scene Breakdowns, The Business of Acting and Q&A. It is designed as an interactive class and will be held in two sessions of two hours each, one on Saturday and the other on Sunday. Class materials will be supplied, you just need to be ready to act. The seminars will take place in the morning on both days, so that they will not interfere with guest speakers appearing on our Main Events stage.

For more information about Richard, click here. To register for Introduction to Acting, click here.

Piglet's Big Movie Screening
The Saturday morning screening tickets are now gone
Piglet’s Big Movie brings "the little pink guy" to center stage for a story of friendship and appreciation as the gang from the Hundred Acre Wood learns that it doesn’t take somebody big to do big things. Piglet gets that inferior feeling when his friends begin a "honey harvest" and he is told that he’s too small to help. When Piglet disappears, the others use his scrapbook as a map to find him - and in the process discover that this "Very Small Animal" has been a big hero in a lot of ways. After an eventful search and a dramatic climax, Piglet once again demonstrates how large an influence he has been on his pals. The film features several new songs written and performed by Carly Simon, including "If I Wasn’t So Small" (The Piglet Song), the heartfelt "Mother’s Intuition" and the enchanting "With a Few Good Friends."
