Shaun of the Dead Quiz & Screening
Thursday, September 23rd @ 7:00PM
Denver Pavilions Theater (16th & Tremont)

At last, a romantic zombie comedy!  Already a smash hit in the U.K., the “rom zom com” follows the bloody funny adventures of underachiever Shaun and his best mate Ed, as they cope with the Zombie Day invasion of North London and attempt to rescue Shaun’s girlfriend Liz and his Mum, Barbara.  It’s going to be one hell of a weekend.

On Friday, Shaun is in a rut. At 29, he’s coasted through life – and still hasn’t gotten very far, usually winding up at the well-fortified local pub, the Winchester.  Liz is re-evaluating their relationship, particularly after Shaun fails to do something special for their anniversary on Saturday.  That day, there are TV news reports of unexplained calamities.  These isolated incidents mushroom into a full-on zombie assault and it’s Sunday bloody Sunday.  As manners and flesh take a beating, it’s time to separate men from meat, humans from zombies, and living from undead.  Shaun and Ed grab whatever is at hand (cricket bat, shovel, LP) to repel the attacking zombies, summoning reserves of strength they didn’t know they possessed and straining muscles they forgot they had.  Rounding up friends and family, they press on towards the sanctuary of the Winchester. All that stands (or lopes) in their way are hordes of the flesh-eating undead...

This movie is rated R. You must be at least 17 years of age to be eligible to play this quiz.

Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence Quiz & Contest
Win tickets to see the movie or a DVD

Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence… is set in 2032, when the line between humans and machines has been blurred almost beyond distinction.  Humans have virtually forgotten what it means to be entirely human in both body and spirit, and the few humans that are left coexist with human spirits inhabiting entirely mechanized bodies and robots with no human elements at all. Batou is a cyborg.  His body is artificial: the only remnants left of his humanity are traces of his brain and the memories of a woman called The Major. A detective for the government's covert anti-terrorist unit, Batou is investigating the case of a hyper-realistic female robot created specifically for sexual companionship - who malfunctions and slaughters her owner.

The film opens today, but you can play for tickets to see the movie for free - or a DVD of the first Ghost in the Shell. This movie is rated PG-13. Play the quiz.

Mr. 3000 Quiz & Screening
Monday, September 13th @ 7:00PM, Continental 6 Theater (I-25 & Hampden)
Funnyman Bernie Mac brings his irreverent comedy to the big screen to star in this hysterical movie about an over-the-hill ballplayer who gets his comeuppance after assuming that his Hall of Fame plaque is in the bag. Stan Ross once loved the game of baseball, playing with passion, energy, and every ounce of his natural talent. But somewhere along the way, the fame went to his head. The self-centered star ended his career prematurely, shocking his teammates by selfishly quitting the game in the middle of a season, right after getting his 3,000th hit the unofficial key to baseball¹s Hall of Fame. Now, ten years later, three of Mr. 3000¹s hits have been disqualified, and the 47-year-old out-of-shape former slugger attempts a comeback hitting the gym and facing down pitchers half his age only to find that three hits are a lot harder to come by than they used to be! The media love to hate the bigheaded basher and they¹re going to delight in ripping him for every strikeout. With only his ex-flame believing in him, for once in his life, Stan must either rediscover his passion for the national pastime or settle for living as "Mr. 2997."

This movie is rated PG-13. Play for tickets.

Sequential Animation Reviews, News and Interviews
No comic escapes the discerning gaze of Michael Vance and Mark Allen

Table for One - "The artist’s minimalist art is almost excellent and reminiscent of master artist Alex Toth’s style. Minimalism means no visual detail is included unless necessary to the story. Almost excellent means that some characters are barely doodles." Aquaman - "I believe it's saying something when a creative team can get you to take a long look at a character who has never intrigued you."
