Shopgirl Screening
Screening Wednesday, November 2 @ 7pm
@ The Colorado Center Theater (I-25 & Colorado)
Based on Steve Martin's bestselling novella, Shopgirl is a funny and poignant story of love in the modern age. The film catches a glimpse inside the lives of three very different people on diverse paths, but all in search of the same thing. Mirabelle is a "plain jane" overseeing the rarely frequented glove counter at Saks Fifth Avenue in Beverly Hills. An artist struggling to keep up with even the minimum payment on her credit card and student loans, she keeps to herself until a rich, handsome fifty something named Ray Porter sweeps her off her feet. Simultaneously, Mirabelle is being pursued by Jeremy, a basic bachelor who's not quite as cultured and successful as Ray. When fate steps in, the outcome may not always be a storybook ending, because in the end... it was life.

This movie is rated R. You must be at least 17 years of age to play for tickets.

Free Poster Giveaway
This is poster week at Crypt of the Reaper and The 13th Door
When you come to either Crypt of the Reaper or The 13th Door haunted house this week, ask for a free Underworld: Evolution poster. The film picks up from where the last movie left off expands on the epoch battle between vampires and werewolves. Look for it in theaters next year. The movie stars the very cool Kate Beckinsale and Scott Speedman.

Just say "Give me a poster please" and we'll lay one on you. Make sure you wait until you get out of the haunt first - we wouldn't want you to crumple it before you get it home to hang it on your wall.

Three Pass - The Ultimate Scare!
Two weekends left in the Halloween Haunted House Season
The biggest news of this Halloween season is the Three Pass (which is actually a 4-pass). For just $29.95, the Three Pass gets you admission to the top three Denver Metro haunted houses - 13th Door, CarnEvil and Crypt of the Reaper. Each haunt includes an award-winning mix of high-tech adventure and terrifying scares that will leave you crying for your mommy. The best part about the Three-Pass is that you get to use it your way. You can visit all the haunts on one night or take your time and see one or two anytime you want during the rest of the month.

You can purchase your Three Pass at any of the three haunts and even upgrade them on-the-spot to VIP status and skip the lines when you go. It's up to you! Make plans to get yourself scared over and over again - that's what Halloween is all about.

Three Pass tickets can also be ordered online by clicking here.

CRYPT OF THE REAPER & CHUCKLE'S DUNGEON
You enter a surprisingly large crypt where The Reaper steals your soul. You challenge is to survive a set of tasks in order to redeem your soul - good luck - there are plenty of nasty ghouls that stand between you and your soul. Even if you make it through - and that's not a given - Chuckle's Dungeon awaits you across the hall to terrorize you in our second haunted attraction which is included in your ticket purchase. That's two completely different haunted houses for the price of one! The entrance to Crypt of the Reaper and Chuckle's Dungeon are located on the back of the Buckingham Square Shopping Center at the corner of Mississippi and Havana in Aurora Colorado. Admission to both houses is included for $14.95 with a canned food donation ($1 more without). More info is available at cryptofthereaper.com  Click here for a $1 off discount coupon.

CARNEVIL & FREAK SHOW
Located at Southwest Plaza also has some new great scares. We enhanced the effects from last year and then, just to spice things up a bit, added some even scarier ones throughout the entire Haunt.  Board an intimate train car (groups of 10 or less) on an adventure you will never forget!  Years ago, there was a terrible accident at this remote carnival (only reachable by train). Guests were trapped at the site and many of the patrons, overcome by fear, went insane and began to prey on the other visitors. The clowns have now taken over the show. After you step off the train you'll have to stay one step ahead of deadly marionettes, freaks of nature and clowns of doom. Just when you think you may be safe, you find yourself in the Freak Show 3-D Maze - terrible hallways of 3-D enhanced scenes populated by, you guessed it, CLOWNS bent on keeping you from the exit. Everyone loves a clown... just not these clowns! So what are you waiting for? Come and experience the “Greatest Scares on Earth”! Admission is $14.95 with a canned food donation ($1 more without). More info is available at evilcarnevil.com

13TH DOOR HAUNTED HOUSE
Our newest and most convenient location is back with even more spine tingling excitement. Your journey begins as you relive the historic events that led to the Barrington Hotel Massacre. Back in 1912 when the Hotel was first built, owner John A Barrington threw a costume party in the penthouse for all the movers and shakers in Denver society. His Nephew, Andrew Barrington, came to the party uninvited and wanted money from his Uncle to pay off a gambling debt.  His Uncle refused him and this sent Andrew into a homicidal rage.  He blocked all the exits from the Penthouse and then began massacring the guests.  He cut off their hands to take their jewelry and then set fire to the hotel. Andrew Barrington was never captured. The two waiters who survived did so because they were able to find the 13th Door. Will you be as lucky or will Andrew Barrington’s ghost find you first!!

Haunted House Musings
Cause I'm too lazy to post to the blog I set up
We were surprised to have a bit of a Haunted House celebrity come through our haunted house on Monday. Leonard Pickle, the editor and publisher of Haunted Attraction magazine, made a stop by our haunted house. We usually see Leonard at the Chicago Halloween show every year, but certainly didn't expect him to stop by Denver this year. He had great things to say about the haunts he visited Monday and plans to spend a couple of days checking them all out while he's here in town.

Haunted Attraction magazine is planning to hold a Haunted House show here in Denver in May and Leonard will be coming to Starfest in April to promote the show at our convention. He'll probably be conducting a makeup demo and sit on a couple of the horror panels at the show too! If you are a Haunted House fan, you should probably make a visit to the Haunted Attraction website and check-out all the great information they have there - it has a lot of great ideas for anyone looking to add some stuff to their own haunt or if you just want to know more about scaring people. :)

Dreamer Screening
Screening Thursday, October 20th @ 7pm
@ the Westminster Promenade (Boulder Turnpike & 104th)
Kurt Russell, Dakota Fanning, and Kris Kristofferson star in a drama about a father who, for the love of his daughter, sacrifices almost everything to save the life of an injured racehorse and bring the promising filly back to her former glory.

Ben Crane was once a great horseman, whose gifts as a trainer were now being wasted on making other men's fortunes. Sonya was a great horse whose promising future on the racetrack was suddenly cut short by a career-ending broken leg. Considered as good as dead to her owner, who also happens to be Ben's boss, Sonya is given to Ben as severance pay, along with his walking papers. Now, it will take the unwavering faith and determination of Ben's young daughter, Cale, to bring these two damaged souls together in a quest for a seemingly impossible goal: to win the Breeders' Cup Classic.

This movie is rated PG. Play for instant-win tickets. (winners are required to pick up tickets at either The Crypt of the Reaper or 13th Door haunted houses prior to the screening).

Haunted House Blog Launched
http://scaredicat.blogspot.com/
I've started posting some comments about running our haunted houses at blogspot. Now that the haunts are all up and running - I'll try to get on at least twice a week and keep you up to date with what's going on.

Our Denver area haunted houses are The 13th Door, Crypt of the Reaper, and CarnEvil. I'm manage Crypt of the Reaper and am over there every night in October.

The photo that I've used here is an old one from 1999 showing our old Alien Scream entrance that was based on you entering a pyramid. Wow, does that bring back memories!

Doom Screening
Screening Tuesday, October 18th @ 7pm @ the UA Pavilions (500 16th St.)
Something has gone wrong at a remote scientific research station on Mars. All research has ceased. Communication has failed. And the messages that do get through are less than comforting. It's a level 5 quarantine and the only souls allowed in or out are the Rapid Response Tactical Squad - hardened Space Marines armed to the teeth with enough firepower to neutralize the enemy... or so they think.

This movie is rated R. You must be at least 17 years of age to play for tickets.
