The
Dean and Gary Comedy Show
Updated details about the
Saturday Night 10pm
performanceComedic geniuses Gary
Jones and Dean Haglund have a comic history almost as old the cosmos
itself. Gary's career began in 1984 with Toronto's famed Second City
Theatre while Dean began life in the comedy trenches as a stand-up
comic. Both met at the Vancouver Theatresports League where they headed
up the cast of the semi-scripted, semi-improvised smash hit, "Star Trik:
The Musical," as Captain James T. Quirk and Mr. Spork. Since then
they've appeared in countless feature films and television shows.
Nothing that Gary and Dean have done, though, can compare to the sheer
mass appeal of their respective recurring characters of, "Chief Master
Sergeant Walter Harriman," of STARGATE: SG:1 and Lone Gunman, "Ringo
Langly," of the X-FILES. Come and witness AN IMPROV ENTERPRISE and see
what everyone's talking about as Gary and Dean travel the universe, with
the help of audience suggestions and the occasional doomed audience
member in a red shirt, to make the universe and a safer and dare we say,
more hilarious place for all mankind.
They will be performing one show at Starfest on Saturday night at
10pm. The price for the Saturday night show is $22.00. |

Starfest Printed
Schedule
It took about three
years of complaining,
but we're finally back
to the grid!
It
used to be possible to
print a grid format
schedule for the
convention, when we
didn't have so many
tracks of programming.
About three years ago we
had to go to a TV Guide
style schedule and print
it on an 11"x17" sheet
of paper - the biggest
our photocopy guy could
print. This year, with
the addition of even
more tracks of
programming planned, we
had to come up with
another solution.
Upon
investigation, we
discovered that the
company that prints our
program book also prints
newspapers and we could
print the schedule as a
poster. What does that
mean? We get to go back
to the Grid! This year
the schedule will be
printed on a two-sided,
single-sheet of paper.
Now the bad news, it's a
monster-sized 22"x17" -
the same size as a page
of the Rocky Mountain
News.
Unless
you have a monster-sized
printer or can cut it
into pieces, you'll have
a hard time printing the
schedule from these
images. I've learned
anything though, you
guys are resourceful. By
the way, even though
this will be the
schedule handed out at
the convention, we will
continue to make changes
here online until the
convention starts. Once
the convention starts,
changes will be on the
screens in the Main
Events Room at the
convention. |

The eerie and
deserted town of SILENT
HILL draws a young
mother desperate to find
a cure for her only
child’s illness. Unable

diagnosis that her
daughter should be
permanently
institutionalized for
psychiatric care, Rose (Radha
Mitchell) flees with her
child, heading for the
abandoned town in search
of answers – and
ignoring the protest of
her husband (Sean Bean).
After a car accident on
the outskirts of Silent
Hill, Rose wakes up to
find that her daughter
has mysteriously
disappeared. It soon
becomes clear that this

she’s ever been: it’s
smothered by fog,
inhabited by a variety
of strange beings and
periodically overcome by
a living Darkness that
literally transforms
everything it touches.

little girl, she begins
to learn the history of
the strange town and
realizes that her

in a larger game.

Jaws
Screening Tonight
Wednesday, April 12th at 9pm at The
Continental Theater (I-25 & Hampden)
It's really hard for me to admit that I remember
trying to take a date to see Jaws at the Cooper Theater over 30
years ago. It's even harder for me to admit that I got to the
theater too late to get a seat, because the line for the movie went
around the building.
The hardest thing to admit is that I was only trying
to see the film because I had heard from my buddies that this was a
great date movie. They all said it was so full of scary scenes that
my girlfriend would have to grab my arm. At that early point
in my dating career (not that it was much of a career) getting my
arm grabbed sounded great.
Fast-forward some thirty years, and quite a few scary
movies later - I now avoid holding hands with my wife through scary
movies - that's a prescription for having your hand crushed. But I
still look back fondly on Jaws. Certainly one of Steven Spielberg's
best, it's still one of the all-time classic films you just have to
see on the big screen.
This screening is part of the Continental's Flashback Series - $5
movies every Wednesday night at The Continental at 9pm. Next week's
feature (April 19th) is Pink Floyd: The Wall. Then on Friday,
April 21st, just after midnight, they will be screening Alien: The
Director's Cut as part of the Starfest 2006 weekend kickoff. What
else can you do that's this much fun for just $5?

Denise
Crosby and Dean Haglund Comedy Show
Friday April 21st at 9pm in The Main
Events Room
Gary Jones will be filming
the 200th episode of Stargate SG1 - possibly late into the day on
Friday the 21st, therefore, he will not be able to arrive at
Starfest until Saturday morning on the 22nd. When we first received
this news, we got worried, but then we found out that Dean is
currently touring in Europe with Denise Crosby. That's when the
possibility of them putting together a performance as a replacement
started dancing in our heads. It took a little arm-twisting and
gentle cajoling, but Denise warmed up to the idea and is now - in
fact - starting to take control of the project. Denise and Dean are
now working on an exciting show to present on Friday night at the
convention.
Anyone who currently has tickets to the Friday Dean &
Gary show, please hold onto them. They can be used for the new show.
If you wish to change your tickets from Friday to Saturday, just let
us know by sending an email to
starland@starland.com.
The price for each of the Friday and Saturday shows is $22.
Tickets may be purchased here.

Impossible
Screening of this
Firefly/Serenity
Documentary at Starfest
It's the
story of the rise and
fall and rebirth of the
cult TV show "Firefly,"
as told from the
perspective of the fans
who helped save it.
The creators of FireflyMovie.com (a.k.a.

and Browncoat have come to symbolize a sense of community, family,
and believing that the impossible can be accomplished. These
concepts are at the very heart of Firefly and of its fans.
In this documentary, the fans explain what

Firefly, attend shindigs, participate in message boards, donate to
charities, and become Serenity extras. They talk about the many ways
that Firefly has affected their lives. Cast and crew also share
