Membership Options

The Conventions are for everyone. We have ticket options that allow you to get involved a little or a lot. For some people, the convention is an immersive experience. That's why we call it a Weekend of Science Fiction Overload. But we realize, that for some, it's just a chance to check-out what this science fiction convention thing is all about. That is why we offer so many kinds of memberships.

Non-Attending - this is the membership for those that can't make it to the convention, but still want to get the stuff that you'd get if you went. We include a membership ribbon, some freebies, a schedule, a program book and any other things that the rest of convention attendees get. Sometimes, we also get some of the guests to sign your program book for you.
Friday Only - Friday is our warm-up day. If you're not into the whole guest and programming thing and you just want to socialize and buy some collectibles, then a Friday Membership might be what you're looking for. We've expanded our Fridays a little over the last few years and there is actually quite a lot to do, but don't expect to see the guests until Saturday and Sunday.
Saturday Only - Saturday is usually our biggest day at the convention. The show goes from about 8AM - Midnight, but most people find that even that's not enough time to do everything. Since many of our events run at the same time, you're just not going to get to see everything if you come just on Saturday, but for many it's all the science fiction they can handle. Saturday Only memberships also include Friday Membership at no additional charge.
Saturday VIP - Lines are, unfortunately, part of the Saturday routine. When you get a VIP membership, you cut the amount of time you spend in those lines. VIP Memberships get a special express line at Registration, One-Time-One-Guest trip through the Platinum Autograph Line and a Reserved Seat in the Main Events Room.
Sunday Only - Most of the guests come for the weekend, so coming just on Sunday has it's benefits. First, you won't find the Saturday crowds on Sunday. The atmosphere is a lot more relaxed. The autograph lines are usually shorter and the whole pace is a little slower. Unfortunately, you'll also have missed some of our most popular events like the Costume Contest and Play Parody. Sunday Only memberships also include Friday Membership at no additional charge.
Sunday VIP - Just like the Saturday VIP, you'll experience less line waiting, your own Reserved Seat in the Main Events Room and a one-time-one-guest trip through the Platinum Autograph Line. Since there are also less VIP seats sold on Sunday, you usually get a better Reserved Seat also.
Weekend VIP - If you want to experience the Weekend of Science Fiction Overload to its fullest, this is the Membership for you! All the perks of the Saturday and Sunday VIP tickets - PLUS - a much better reserved seat. In our Main Events Room we reserve the front center section just for Weekend Reserved Seating. If you want to take pictures and have great seats - this is your best bet.
Platinum Membership - All the perks of the Weekend VIP and more! Platinum members get personal treatment from KathE Walker at Registration. KathE runs the event, so you'll be catered to by the Boss! Platinum Membership come with a special Platinum Autograph Card and VIP Membership for the Weekend. Platinum Members get to select their Reserved Seats for the next convention before they go on sale to the general public. Your Autograph Card admits you one-time, during the weekend, into the special Platinum Autograph Line that alternates with the General Admission Autograph Line. Since there are a lot fewer people in the Platinum Line, you'll get your autographs a lot quicker than everybody else. On top of all that, you'll also get a 10% discount at the Starland tables in the Dealer's Room.

VIP Reserved Seating:

Reserved Seating is available for the Guest Speakers and Specific Reserved Seating events in the Main Events room. The seating in the Main Events Room is similar to a concert venue, the seats closest to the stage are for reserved seats and the seats on the sides and in the back are for General Admission Tickets. Having a VIP Membership allows you to come and go throughout the day and know that your assigned seat will be waiting for you when you come back. You must be in your seat 10 minutes prior to reserved seating events. 5 minutes prior to an event, empty reserved seats are opened to General Admission Members.

Our ticket outlets generally have tickets to the convention about 30 days prior to the convention. You can purchase them directly from Starland right now.

We suggest that you call the stores, before going, to verify that they still have the tickets you want and for their store hours. You can purchase Adult and Child Saturday, Sunday and Weekend General Admission tickets at the outlets. If you wish to purchase advance Friday, VIP and Non-Attending tickets, you have to do that by calling Starland (303-757-5850), order them online (see below), or mailing a check or money order to: Starcon '99, PO Box 24955, Denver, CO 80224-0955.

Lodging:

The Holiday Inn is the place to stay if you want to be in the thick of things at the convention. You will need to call the Holiday Inn directly to book rooms. The convention room rate is $75.00 per night for a single or double. Since the normal hotel rate is $125/night, be sure you mention you are coming for Starcon! Call the hotel at (303) 371-9494.
