It's taken considerable effort, one might say of Herculean proportions, but we are really proud that Mr. Kevin Sorbo has joined our convention guest list and will be appearing at Starfest 2001. Kevin has gained World renown as the star of both Hercules The Legendary Journeys and Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda. Mr. Sorbo serves as the chairman for A World Fit For Kids!. It is a non-profit organization that provides gang, drug and drop out prevention programming to kids at risk. In his role as spokesperson, Sorbo raises awareness of the importance of mentoring and acting as a positive role model to the youth of our country. We will have a table in the Activities room, at the convention, where you'll be able to learn about the organization's programs and how you can help. Mr. Sorbo is scheduled to appear on Saturday, April 21, 2001. |
Ms. Hey plays Pa'u Zotoh Zhaan on the Sci-Fi channel series Farscape. As an actress, Hey has appeared in numerous TV series including: Roar, Flipper, Mission Impossible, and Dolphin Cove. In Australia and the UK she also appeared in Flesh and Blood, E Street and Pacific Drive. She made her film debut as the Warrior Woman in George Miller's Mad Max 2: Road Warrior opposite Mel Gibson. Her other film roles include The Living Daylights, Castaway, Mussolini, Return of Captain Invincible, Norman Loves Rose, and most recently Signal One. Her television movie roles include the genre film Timeslip for HBO. It is fortuitous that her schedule has allowed her to come to Denver. We look forward to finding out what it's like playing a 812 year old 10th-level Pa'u (a priest) that was imprisoned for murder, is a plant-evolved being, and is responsible for the health and well-being of her fellow passengers aboard a living ship on Farscape. Ms. Virginia Hey is scheduled to appear onstage in the Main Events Room on Saturday and Sunday. She will be available for autographs and to meet fans on both Saturday and Sunday. |
Max
GrodenchikOn Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Max played Rom, Quark's diminutive - yet mechanically gifted brother. During the show's long run, his character developed dramatically. His splitting with his brother's business, marriage to Leeta the dabo girl, and working with the station's chief engineer, O'Brien created pivotal coarse changes for Rom. While memorable, Mr. Godenchik's work on Star Trek is not his only film and TV work. Last year he appeared in The Adventures of Rocky & Bullwinkle as the Horse Spy. In 1996 he appeared in Rumpelstiltskin, in the title role. Prior to that he performed in Here Come the Munsters (TV), Apollo 13, F.I.D.O. Gold, Doorways (TV), Rising Sun, Sister Act, Barton Fink, The Gambler Returns: The Luck of the Draw (TV), and in The Rocketter. Aside from those roles, Max has made notable appearances in Space Cadets, The Drew Carey Show, Sliders, Tales from the Crypt, Star Trek: The Next Generation, and Night Court. At Starfest 2001 he'll be appearing for Q&A both Saturday and Sunday and appearing in The Ferengi Family Hour performance Saturday night. |
Chase
MastersonThe Official Star Trek website describes Chase's character on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (Leeta) as a beautiful and smart Bajoran Dabo girl working for Quark's bar, she combines the best of Bajoran traditions with her very untraditional lifestyle. First dating Dr. Bashir for over a year before developing a crush on Rom during the strike by Quark's employees in 2372. After resolving her affair with Bashir using the Bajoran Rite of Separation on Risa, she followed a rocky path with the shy Rom until he finally proposed and they wed. Chase started out her life in Colorado Springs on February 26th. She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting Degree from the University of Texas at Austin and has performed theatrically since the age of five. In her professional career, she has performed Ballet, Jazz, Modern and Tap. Diversified in her talents, she's been a member of the improvisational comedy troupe The Groundlings and host of the popular Entertainment Magazine Show, SciFi Entertainment. Her many movie and TV roles include: Fire From the Sky, The Anna Specials, Sammyville, Sometimes They Come Back... For More, Frozen, Ballerina Finale, Trekkies, Digital Man, General Hospital, In a Moment of Passion, Married People, Single Sex, and Robin Hood: Men in Tights. Cary-Hiroyuki
TagawaMr. Tagawa got his first big break as an actor when he was cast in Bernardo Bertolucci's feature film The Last Emperor. He went on to roles in Rising Sun, Mortal Kombat, and The Phantom. He also starred in the series Nash Bridges on the CBS Television Network. Science Fiction fans will recognize him from his appearances on Babylon 5, Star Trek TNG, and his recurring role in Space Rangers. Tagawa, a U.S. Army brat, was born in Tokyo and lived in various cities while growing up. His father was in the army and was stationed at Ft. Bragg, N.C., Ft. Polk, La. and Ft. Hood, Texas. His mother's influence probably led him to acting, as she was an actress in Japan. The family finally settled in Southern California, where Tagawa began performing in high school. Later, he was able to live in Japan as an exchange student while studying at the University of Southern California. Aron
Eisenberg
As Nog on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Mr. Eisenberg played the son of Rom, the brother to Quark, the station's bar and casino owner. Like his father, the character worked at the establishment for many years until, he left for Starfleet Academy, much to his uncle's dismay. His desire to leave the station stemmed from his desire to develop his talents and not attempt to pursue a career in business like a good Ferengi. Following his return to the station, he joined the crew of the station was recommended for promotion to lieutenant by Captain Sisko following his actions in the Dominion war. Nog enjoys Trixian bubble juice and fresh tube grubs, often beaming in to Sisko's restaurant in New Orleans to enjoy them. Aron Eisenberg enjoys acting. Prior to his role on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, he could be seen, without prosthetics, in leading roles on various television series and films. His work includes: Tales from the Crypt, Amityville - The Evil Escapes, The Wonder Years, The Liar's Club, Playroom, The Horror Show, Puppet Master III, Streets and Beverly Hills Brats. Aron has also performed on stage in such productions as The Indian Wants, On Borrowed Time and Minor Demons. His work in the latter production earned him a 'Zony' award for Best Supporting Actor. Occasionally, Eisenberg wears a director's hat for theatrical productions, like for the recent The Business of Murder at the Conejo Players Theater. In his free time, Eisenberg enjoys mountain biking, soccer and spending time with his family. He will be appearing for Q&A both Saturday and Sunday at Starfest 2001 and also will appear in The Ferengi Family Hour performance on Saturday night. |
Cecily
AdamsMs. Adams played a most entertaining and pivotal role in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. As the widowed mother of Quark and Rom - and later as a lover to Wally Shawn's Grand Nagus Zek, she provided a humorous and insightful balance to that of the Ferengi men in the show. The episodes in which she starred promoted feminist equality and threatened gender-based prejudice. In real-life, Cecily is the daughter of Get Smart's Don Adams and singer Adelaide Adams. Her sister Stacey Adams is also an actress. She was raised in Silver Spring, Maryland and Beverly Hills, CA. Ms. Adams went to school at The University of California at Irvine. She works as an actor, casting director and acting coach and is married to the actor Jim Beaver, who was born in Wyoming, by the way. Ms. Adams will be acting in The Ferengi Family Hour on Saturday night and appearing in the Main Events room for Q&A both Saturday and Sunday. |
Robin Atkin
DownesMr. Downes is best known for his crucial role as Byron the rogue telepath leader on Babylon 5. He landed the part after his stellar performance as Morann in the 4th season of B5 and in the movie “In the Beginning.” Robin was born and raised in the U.K. where he lived for 11 years. It was there he first encountered his love for acting while performing in boarding school at the age of six. He then moved to Los Angeles at the age of 12 and continued to learn the craft while appearing in many plays and taking drama courses in school. Downes earned a Master of Fine Arts degree at Temple University in Philadelphia while performing professionally. While in Philadelphia, he starred in numerous productions including leads in “Road,” “Assassins” and “Sign of the Lizard.” His work earned him many complimentary articles in the periodicals: American Theatre, Variety and the Philadelphia Inquirer, among others. After joining Actors Equity, Robin decided to pursue a career in television and film. He returned to Los Angeles in 1994 and has since appeared on Beverly Hills 90210, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Nash Bridges, Charmed, Angel, Titans and of course as Byron on Babylon 5. Mr. Downes will be at the convention throughout the weekend and will appear onstage on Sunday. |
Gwen
DeMarcoMs. DeMarco is the real-life actress, portrayed by Sigourney Weaver in the Galaxy Quest movie. She starred in the Maritime Television Network series during its entire two-year syndication run. Because the Galaxy Quest TV series was only carried on a few dozen TV stations across North America, it failed to gain wide recognition until the 1999 movie (based on the series' stars) was released. The show, produced in Halifax, Nova Scotia, featured the adventures of the intrepid crew of the NSEA Protector. Gwen, who played Lt. Tawny Madison, the dynamic blonde Communications Officer, proved to be Galaxy Quest's 7 of 9. In 1981, she was nominated for a Syndie award for her performance in the episode, Tawny, Tawny, We Hardly Knew Ye. Gwen considers her big break on Galaxy Quest as the high point of her acting career. It was as a result of her performance as Spy Angel, Secret Agent, in the controversial episode Silent, But Deadly, that she was given the starring role in the short-lived spin-off series, Spy Angel. Unfortunately, the spin-off show began and ended production during the second season of Galaxy Quest due to the bankruptcy of the show's syndicator and was never aired. Soap fans may also recognize her as Naomi, from the show Love and Share. Her abrupt departure from the soap is still remembered among fans as the Famous Coffee Incident. After narrowly losing the lead role in the movie, Helix, to Anna Scott, Gwen returned to the stage, her first love. She has since starred in numerous dinner theatre productions, including War and Peace, and the acclaimed musical version of Romeo and Juliet where she was reunited with her Galaxy Quest co-star, Alexander Dane. They performed the production to sold out audiences throughout many of Florida's finer dinner theatres. Fans with a sharp ear might recognize her voice talents as the computer voice for the Bulgarian car line, Lioness. Hearing Gwen say, in her sultry voice, "All monitored systems are functioning" can actually make you feel like your on the bridge of the Protector. Gwen has recently returned to North America from a two-year tour of the Amazon region of Venezuela as a member of the Sounds Like Shakespeare Theatre Company in the role of Katerina in The Taming of the Shrew. She takes great pride in having been a part of the first Shakespeare production performed in full costume for the jungle-dwelling Yanomami Indians, who she says enjoyed it immensely in spite of the language barrier. Gwen is excited to be at Star Fest 2001, since it is her first fan event in over 18 years. She looks forward to meeting fans of the original series. A native Hoosier, she was born in New Harmony, Indiana where she started her show business career as a tour guide. She currently resides in the St. Louis area where she spends her time playing with her five cats, and working on her first novel, a sci-fi romance, Pulsating Space, about the loves and challenges facing Lt. Toni Monroe of the starship Defender. If you'd like to contact her, prior to her coming to Denver, you can write to her directly at GwenDeMarco@aol.com. |

Dave will be speaking with cousin Jeff Walker in the Main Events room on Saturday and Sunday. Auditions for Dave's female sidekick will be held throughout the weekend. Applicants bringing gifts are appreciated. |

Lolita held this position on both shows then continued with Voyager for 6 seasons. She also held the same job on "Generations" and "First Contact". Christie Golden
Christie has become a regular guest at our conventions. Look for her to pitch-in for author panels and be available for your writing questions throughout the weekend. Click here for the Christie Golden Bibliography... She is the author of the Voyager novels: The Murdered Sun, Marooned and Seven of Nine, as well as The Next Generation--Double Helix #6: The First Virtue with Michael Jan Friedman. She's also written for the TSR Ravenloft line and did the novels for the anime TV show, Invasion America. She's quite a busy author and lovely person. |

Your homework assignment for this convention is to artfully ask Jeff about his filmed nude scene in Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice. You see, prior to working in publicity, Jeff was a young, dashing actor. He's very shy, so I'm sure I'll get in trouble for mentioning it. That, however, will not prevent me from leading you to his other screen roles and personal information click here. |

Kevin Atkins Lest he, or anyone else, take these comments too seriously: Let it be known that we love Kevin. Only now, since we've suffered with him for over a quarter of a century, do we feel comfortable enough to kid him this mercilessly. |
