Born and raised in the Boston area, the young Richard Herd got his start by performing on a Saturday morning radio show. Working onstage and backstage throughout his youth, he gathered acting tips from stars like Veronica Lake, Ben Gazzara and Claude Rains. Later he expanded on those skills, acting and singing in stage productions throughout New England and then later on Broadway. He is primarily known for his Man In Charge roles and usually plays a business leader, company president or military commander. Many people recognize him, as Wilhelm, George Costanza's boss on Seinfeld, but Star Trek fans usually recognize him as William Shatner's boss on TJ Hooker or as Tom Paris' father from Star Trek: Voyager. His science fiction work began with with Arnold Schwarzenegger in the movie Hercules In New York and has continued onscreen in Yesterday's Target, Coneheads, Trancers, and The Survivor. His television science fiction resume includes roles on V, SeaQuest DSV, I Married A Monster, Quantum Leap, The Adventures of Brisco County Jr., Cosmic Slop, Star Trek: DS9, and Star Trek: Voyager. You'll be able to meet Richard Herd throughout Starfest weekend. He will be performing the play Duck Variations with Walter Koenig on Saturday, April 26th and appear on our Main Events stage for questions and answers on Sunday, April 27th. |
