Mr. Koenig returns to Starfest for his fourth time in the last 26 years – actually it’s the fifth time if you count our Australian Conventions. During his last convention appearance in Denver, he performed The Boys in Autumn with Mark Leonard… way too long ago. Since then, Walter has been busy, most notably as “Bester” on the television series Babylon 5 and its spin-off Crusade. He’s currently developing a feature film he’s written titled Illegal Alien and has contracted both John de Lancie and Robert Picardo to appear in the film. He’s still looking for the perfect female lead. His genre science fiction productions include The Privateers, Trekkies, Moontrap, and The Questor Tapes along with numerous voice roles in video games. He wrote and performed in the films I Wish I May and You're Never Alone when You're a Schizophrenic, the latter which was a finalist in the 1996 New York Film Festival. Koenig filmed a guest appearance as himself on the CBS situation comedy Almost Perfect, did sketch comedy on Viva Variety and performed on an ESPN sports commercial. He’s hosted a cult movie marathon, wrote an autobiography titled, Warped Factors - A Neurotic's Guide to the Universe, written for the television series Family, Powers of Matthew Starr, Class of '65, Land of the Lost, and the Star Trek animated series. He also wrote Checkov's Enterprise about his experiences making the first Star Trek movie and the satiric fantasy novel Buck Alice and the Actor-Robot. He also contributed to three issues of the comic book Raver. Walter Koenig has taught classes in acting and directing at UCLA, The Sherwood Oaks Experimental Film College, the California School of Professional Psychology and the Actor's Alley Repertory Company. His stage career spans thirty years and includes performances in A Midsummer Night's Dream, Six Characters in Search of an Author, Make a Million, Box and Cox, Actors, The Boys in Autumn, Other People's Money, Steambath, The White House Murder Case, Night Must Fall, La Ronde, The Typist and the Tiger, and The Deputy. You'll be able to meet Walter Koenig throughout Starfest weekend. He will be performing the play Duck Variations with Richard Herd on Saturday, April 26th and appear on our Main Events stage for questions and answers on Sunday, April 27th. |
