Art Show
We want to encourage all you budding artists to enter the Starfest 2004 Art Show. Past entrants have included James Cukr, whose work is pictured here. The Art Show will be held in the Conifer Ballroom next to the Dealer's Room. No pre-registration for the Art show is necessary; your artwork can be entered at any time during the convention. Enter your science fiction, fantasy, portraits, 3-D, sculpture or any related artwork. For all the art show rules and information go to

Barbarian Armor of the Feral Horde
Want to learn how a barbarian's armor is made? Want to see a Viking's armor up close and how it's put together? Then this panel is for you! Come and ask and we'll tell you! Bring paper and pencil for note taking.

Bat'leth 101
Come learn the basics of Bet’leth and Mek’leth combat. Prepare yourself for the tournament and have a good time. We promise not to hurt you . . . much.

Battletech Gaming
Terry, John and friends once again bring you Battletech gaming both Saturday and Sunday from 10:00am to 6:00pm in the Activities Room. They welcome all levels of players.

The Brig
The Brig members arrest & torture "prisoners" as a fun role-playing activity. Proceeds go to Children’s Hospital Fund. $3 per arrest; $1 per torture. In the Activities Room.

British Science Fiction
British television and film has had a reputation for its offbeat imaginativeness since the 1950s. Join us as we explore well-known British favorites like Red Dwarf and Doctor Who as well as lesser-known treats such as the Avengers and Danger Man.

Care of Magical Creatures
Our world is surrounded by mystifying beasts and creatures. After a brief lesson about some of those amazing creatures, you will create your own fairy or pixie and learn how to care for it! Only registered and sorted Hogwarts students may take the class. No Muggles allowed. Seating and supplies are limited so please register for the class with Headmaster Dowling in the Fan Club Room.

Charms Class
Learning charms is essential to the education of wizards and witches. So come Hogwarts students and create your own bracelet, which upon completion you will be taught a charm to place on it. Only registered and sorted Hogwarts students may take the class. No Muggles allowed. Seating and supplies are limited so please register for the class with Headmaster Dowling in the Fan Club Room.

Sign up at Costume Contest registration (located in the Atrium by the Information Table, near the pool) Friday evening (from 6 to 10) and Saturday until 5:30. Register early as there are limited entries to the contest.

Members of the Millennium Costumers Guild will delve into the exciting world of strange and unusual, new and exciting products that they have found for creating costumes. They will cover a variety of products, where to get them and how to use them.

ENTERPRISE and the Future of Trek
Does the fate of the series indicate the future of the franchise? Can Trek survive today, and if so, what needs to be done? Presented by members of ENTERPRISE Project.

Fan Clubs
All the local science fiction fan clubs will be at the convention. Various presentations will be made in the panel rooms during the convention. If you want to make your science fiction infatuation more of a social thing, be sure to check into the club activities at the convention. They will be more than happy to let you know what kinds of activities are available throughout the year.

Federation Ball
Every member of the Federation needs to have a place to party!!  Come join Feddies, Klingons, Vulcans and more (including the occasional celebrity) at the Federation Ball on Saturday night in Panel Room #2 (near registration).  The Ball begins at 9:00 pm and ends at midnight.  Enter the dance contest for a chance to win a pair of tickets to the next StarFest!! The audience gets to help with the judging!  Cost is only $3.00 each or 2 for $5.00, and costumes are encouraged, but not required. Music is provided by professional DJ company A.C.E.S., and the Ball is sponsored by the USS Pioneer and the USS Omega Glory.

Genre TV – Can Fans Impact a Show's Fate?
Science fiction shows have always had trouble on network TV, and fans have attempted to fight this for years. When and how does fan input help a series? Presented by members of ENTERPRISE Project.

Getting the Wiggins: What You Should Know About Designing a Wig.
We will be discussing the basics of wig design, including cutting, styling, curling, straightening, and coloring a wig. Brought to you by Denver Cosplay Society.

Hack//Enemy CCG Tournament
This is a tournament for CCG Hack//Enemy. This will be a constructed deck, 1-on-1, no elimination tournament. You will need to provide your own deck (available in the dealer's room). Prizes will be awarded first and second place of total wins.

Heroclix Demonstration
Learn to play Heroclix, the collectible miniatures game of superheroic battles!

Horror Room
Join us Friday night in the Atrium for the horror carnival for charity.  We'll have lots of new games and prizes to give away.  Later on Friday night come sing along with the horror room as we present Little Shop of Horrors and The Rocky Horror Picture Show.  Saturday is "Stephen King Saturday" and we'll be pulling out all of our old favorites for you.  Saturday night you're invited to a 'Slumber Party Massacre" as we throw a pajama party in the room complete with prizes for our favorite pajamas and really bad B movies for you to laugh at.  Sunday the horror room pays tribute to Edgar Alan Poe with some great adaptations of his work.

Horror Room Activities/Panels
We have lots of good stuff planned for this room including but not limited to: horror trivia, goth gaming, Vampyre the Masquerade, the make your own monster contest, music of the night, killer B's, and a special presentation from the Rocky Mountain Paranormal Research Society. The horror room is brought to you by Marcia's Costumes and the generous klingons of House Veska.

Intergalactic Karaoke
Hear Ye, Hear Ye, the Intergalactic Fleet of Honor (IGFH) proudly announces its 5th anniversary, and would like to invite all convention goers to help us celebrate by attending the Karaoke show and enjoying some cake. This year we have a special event during the Karaoke show. It is the Karaoke Gong Show; this is on a first come basis. The Gong Show is limited to the first 10 participants to sign up. The prize is 2 tickets to the Federation Ball on Saturday night. If you would be interested in being a judge, please let us know.

So come join us for cake, singing, and some gonging --  and a lot of fun!

JEDI KNIGHT LIVE
The Not Quite Ready for Knight Time Players present SNL ala Jedi. Remember all those classic SNL sketches you love? Come see what we do to 'em. Er, with 'em. PG13. No landsharks were harmed in the making of this parody. Presented by the Order of the Grey.

Jugglers with an Altitude
Is your life complicated? Do you need to do three or more things at once? Well, juggling the problems of your life we can't help you with, but we can help you learn to juggle! We can teach you to juggle in five minutes or your money back (it's free anyway). Learn the classic three ball juggle to begin with or the more advanced four or even five ball juggle, or even clubs if you dare. For those who like the harder stuff learn a few tricks that will make you think you never knew how to juggle in the first place.

Kageshien Performance
Kageshien, Japanese for ShadowPlay, is an award-winning performance groupe. Kageshien, playing mostly mid-west conventions, performs music from Anime, J-Pop, Video Games, and other japanese inspirations. Their costumes are all made by the members, and the songs are sung live (no lip-syncing) and choreographed by the cast. They put on an amazing show, so take a look!

Klingon Kulture
Admiral K’Var and clan will educate all on what it is to be Klingon. Some fun facts and input from the Star Trek Universe. Come see Admiral K’Var in his element and come asking questions that need answers.

Klingon Warrior Tournament
Come test your combat skills in the Klingon Warrior's Tournament. All skill levels are invited to participate in one or all three events. Win or lose, everyone always has a good time. Brought to you by the Galactic Warriors Academy.

Kooking With Kroesh - How to Feed Invading Klingons
Come spend an hour of fun with Kroesh, the DaHar Klingon Master of Food, and his assistants as they share with you how to prepare some Klingon foods here on Earth. Watch Kroesh work his culinary magic in a messy style resembling a cross between Julia Child, Worf, and an Avalanche hockey player. No longer will you have to worry about messing with live worms or tearing the heart from an animal to feed your favorite Klingon. Movie Studio Previews
Dave McDonnell of Starlog Magazine and Jeff Walker will be presenting trailers, slides and commentary on all this spring's sci-fi fare. Don't miss this presentation -- it's always one of the greatest events at the convention.

Orbital Broadcast-1 Video Screening
Come see a special screening of Wave Breaking Productions' new Sci-Fi TV pilot called "Orbital Broadcast-1". OB-1 is a new show being pitched "By the fans, for the fans". Sean Sides, the show's graphic designer/model builder, will conduct the presentation. He will be available to answer questions, and provide promotional material for the show.

This screening will include for the first time anywhere, the full-length music video "Kushangaza" by Star Trek Voyager's Tim Russ. The video will be on Paramount's Voyager Season 2 DVD release in May. Also being shown, a trailer of the show, and the 22 minute "pilot" that features a visit to the Star Trek Experience in Las Vegas, the 501st Stormtroopers, and excerpts from the interviews of George Takei, Walter Koenig and Tim Russ.

New students, be sure to register with Headmaster of Hogwarts America, Professor Brian Dowling, in the Fan Club room.

Sealed Deck Tournament: Pick up a Star Trek CCG Second Edition or Call to Arms starter deck and 3 Second Edition, Energize, Call to Arms or Necessary Evil booster packs in the dealers room and build the best deck you can for this tournament. Starfest Beat the Geek Game
Come watch the Starfest version of this popular TV game show.  We'll have four Geeks (Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, General Science Fiction, and Buckaroo Banzai) and lots of fun. Contestants will be chosen from the audience, so if you think you have what it takes to beat a geek -- come on in! Prizes will be awarded, including passes to the next convention if you successfully Beat the Geek!

Starfleet Academy - Engineering 204: Holodeck Programming
Students will explore preparing and creating Holodeck programs, including developing their own fantasy programs, discovering the amount of work and expertise necessary to create someone else’s fantasy, and a brief look at what to do when the Holodeck takes over your ship, a surprisingly common phenomenon.

Starfleet Academy - Engineering 435: Starship Construction Techniques
Students will learn about advanced Starfleet Engineering methods as they design and build a starship prototype. Extra Credit given for working models.

Starfleet Academy - Security 102: Away Team Procedures and Protocols
This class will demonstrate appropriate Away Team techniques, examine historical records for do’s and don’ts, and respond to scenarios giving students the opportunity to respond to the Away Team Security recruiting slogan, "There are always new openings in Away Team Security!"

Starfleet Academy - Temporal Physics 101: Time Travel for the Chronologically Challenged
This course will introduce the student to the wide variety of potential opportunities and pitfalls of being a member of a time travel team. Students will be evaluated on their suitability for work with the Department of Temporal Investigations. The Guest Lecturer will be an expert in the field and recent arrival to our century.

Strange New Worlds Writing Panel
So, you want to write a Star Trek story. Kevin Dilmore, Dayton Ward and Christie Golden talk about breaking into professional Star Trek writing via Pocket Books' annual Strange New Worlds contest. Dayton is a three-time winner of that contest, and now regularly writes Star Trek fiction for Pocket. We'll have tips and tricks for putting together a story that will catch the editor's eye, as well as the official rules for this year's contest.

Through the Stargate
Come join us for an informal discussion on the reality of Sub Level 28, the politics and motives of Senator/Vice President Kinsey, the downfall of the Jaffa/Tokra/Tauri Alliance, as well as the upcoming Atlantis spinoff. If you've ever wanted to wear a Tokra costume, be a Jaffa, use a hand device, or create a costume inspired by the show, we'll give you some ideas along with the discussion.

Trice Hand to Hand Combat Training for Non-Professionals
A self-defense class designed to help you keep those pesky Terrans and aliens from invading your personal space. Wavier forms will be able at the beginning of class for those who wish to participate, or can be requested by e-mail prior to the convention from theigfh@aol.com.

Utopia Planetia - Build Your Own Spaceship
Come build your very own Spaceship (not to scale, of course) out of ordinary household items with the crew of the USS Pioneer.  Children of all ages will have a blast, but those under 10 should have a responsible companion with them. Prizes will be awarded to the most creative efforts.

When the bustle of the convention becomes too much, come sit in the video room. We'll have lots of great features for you to enjoy.

You Can Dough It or Craft It
Homemade play dough and other arts and crafts-type projects for all ages to enjoy. The USS Omega Glory will show you that you can dough it!
