![]() As an actor, director, producer, screenwriter, author and recording artist, William Shatner is an American Icon - one who was raised in Canada. Already established as a professional actor in his home country - Shatner arrived in the U.S. and made a big impact playing on Broadway and in such early TV shows as Playhouse 90 and Studio One. His film debut came in the 1957 film, The Brothers Karamazov. Before his Iconic role as Captain James T. Kirk, he appeared in TV shows and genre hits like The Twilight Zone, Alfred Hitchcock Presents and Mission: Impossible. Then came Star Trek, ...actually, then came reruns. Once Trek was aired in syndication and played over and over again after school on televisions throughout America, Captain Kirk became the role model for millions and sparked a vision of the future that captivated countless young minds. Post Star Trek, Shatner never stopped working. television series, movies, commercials, animated productions, writing, and producing. Only recently, has he started to receive the mainstream recognition that he deserves. He was nominated for a 1999 Emmy for his work on 3rd Rock from the Sun; then last year he won an Emmy for Boston Legal and followed it up this year with a Golden Globe. Additionally, his poetry & song album in current release titled Has Been (in collaboration with Ben Folds) is receiving great critical acclaim and notice. It is with great humility and thanks we welcome "The Shat Man," William Shatner to Starfest 2005. Mr. Shatner will be at Starfest on Sunday, May 1st. |
