Dirk
BenedictBorn Dirk Niewoehner on March 1st, 1945 in Helena Montana, Dirk grew up in the small town of White Sulphur Springs. He enjoyed all the trappings of youth only a small town can offer learning to hunt, fish, and enjoy sports, especially football. While in his freshman year at Whitman College in Walla Walla Washington, Dirk was first exposed to acting on a "dare" by his college buddies and fell in love with the stage. Hollywood was on the horizon. Dirk's stage, film and television career has spanned almost 30 years and he's enjoyed such successes as "Battlestar Galactica" and "The A-Team" as well as playing "Hamlet" on Broadway. Dirk is also a Cancer survivor and has written a book "Confessions of a Kamikaze Cowboy" which chronicles his rise in Hollywood and his battle with the disease using a Macrobiotic approach. A philosophy he adheres to to this day. Today Dirk is not only a well known actor, but also a writer of two books "Confessions of a Kamikaze Cowboy" and "And Then We Went Fishing". Dirk has also directed his own original screenplay "Cahoots" which is now being premiered at various film festivals around the world. Dirk resides in Montana with his two sons George and Roland, but above all he enjoys playing the role of "Dad" the most. Dirk will be participating in the Autograph and Photo with the Stars program at Starfest and will appear onstage for questions and answers either Saturday or Sunday. Check our Convention Schedule for the most up-to-date information on guest appearances and times.
