Rachel Luttrell

Rachel LuttrellRachel Luttrell stars on the hit cable TV sci-fi series Stargate Atlantis as Teyla Emmagan. She plays the leader of a hunted, yet proud group of humanoids living on the same world as the ancient city of Atlantis. Her character is a valuable member of the Stargate team and is more than capable in hand-to-hand combat and acts as a guide to the Earthling visitors that have come to inhabited her ancestral home.

Stargate Atlantis is a successful spin-off series from the Stargate SG1 TV show, with millions of its own weekly viewers. The popular series is currently in its third season of production.

Rachel is a popular Canadian actress and has worked on ER, Charmed, and Touched By An Angel. She held the lead role of Lisette in the Anne Rice miniseries Feast of All Saints. She has had guest-starring roles in the genre shows Sleepwalkers, Charmed, Maniac Mansion and Forever Knight . Her film work includes the sci-fi thriller The Imposter. She most recently starred in the horror-comedy A Dog's Breakfast with David Hewlett and Christopher Judge. She previously appeared in the independent films The Aviary, Stop Thief!, Everyday Use, House, and Joe's So Mean to Josephine.

Her professional stage debut began with the Toronto premiere production of ”Miss Saigon.” She was subsequently cast in the Toronto production of “Beauty And The Beast”. Other stage work includes the world premier of Lynn Nottage’s  “Las Meninas”  at the San Jose Rep for acclaimed director Michael Edwards. She also participated in the workshop production of “Great Expectations” for  Richard Jay Alexander. Other noted roles include Lizzie in the challenging musical “Goblin Market” (ACT in Seattle), and  Erzulius in “Once On This Island”, at the La Mirada Theater in California. She recently spent a summer studying Shakespeare at Oxford University with the British/American Drama Association in the prestigious President Group.

Rachel was born in Tanzania, but her family immigrated to Canada when she was just five years old. She studied ballet at the Russian Academy of Classica Ballet School and piano at the Royal Conservatory of Music. Music runs through Rachel's blood. Her father was a member of the famous Mendelsohn Choir and was responsible for mentoring Rachel's young musical talent. Recognizing that talent, the producers of Stargate Atlantis have utilized her beautiful singing voice as a crutial story element in one of the more recent episodes of the series.

Ms. Luttrell will be attending Starfest on Sunday, April 22nd. She will be on the Main Events stage for a one hour Q&A and be available for autographs and photo sessions.
